Cure your panic attacks by learning how to control your anxiety.
I’ve cured myself from panic attacks and I know you can too. I sincerely believe that the tools I provide in this blog will enlighten your understanding of how panic disorders and anxiety attacks work, so that you can start controlling your own mind and thoughts and become panic free. I do not offer a quick fix or a wonderpill but when you understand panic attacks it is just like flicking a switch and they are but a distant memory. This is cool stuff! Welcome!
How to cure your panic attacks through drinking tea
It is commonly known that drinking tea and coffee can make you more anxious if you are prone to panic attacks. The caffeine in tea and coffee affects our nervous system in a way that might feel similar to when you are experiencing a panic attack. People with panic anxiety generally therefore feel that avoiding those kinds of drinks makes them feel a bit calmer. Chocolate also contains caffeine and can make you feel sensations similar to anxiety especially if you have had dark chocolate. For me this became a bit of a dilemma because I love both chocolate and coffee!
Rooibus Tea – cure to panic attacks?
Well it isn’t really a cure on it’s own, but it will definately give you the opposite effect of normal black tea or coffee – namely a relaxing experience. The African tea Rooibus that is known for calming the nervous system, alleviating colic and helping against allergies is the perfect drink for anxious people. It is also full of antioxidants that helps clean out the toxins in your body. Rooibus has a distinct herbal flavour almost nutty flavour at first, but with some milk and sugar you get used to the taste quickly and it does relax you. It has a deep red colour and is sometimes called red tea. But there are often other plants included if you buy ”red tea” so go for the Rooibus only option.
Chamomile Tea – cure to panic attacks?
Chamomile is probably the most known tea to have a soothing effect on your nervous system. It is given to newborn babys to aliviate tummy ache and is often given as a night time drink to make you sleep better. If you like the sweet taste of chamomile you have here the perfect alternative to Rooibus. I would say though that I find Rooibus more effective in relaxing a worried mind.
It has also been proven that holding cups of hot tea gives you the sensation of safety and calmness!
So I have talked about thinking through a line of thoughts and not get stuck on one thought like a stuttering record. So now it is time for some affirmations. An affirmation is a way to talk to your subconscious (see this post) mind to make it change how you feel. Basically you are telling the subconscious mind good things to make you feel good. It can look like this: “I am happy, healthy and wealthy, I am happy healthy and wealthy, I am happy healthy and wealthy“
what does an good affirmation look like
An affirmation can, or should be repeted over and over again and must always use a positive language if you want a positive effect. You must also state it in the present because you want to feel in the present. If you say “ I will be happy healthy and wealthy” your mind just records that as something it will do in the future – and as we know, the future never arrives… We must also never use negative words. An affirmation like “ I am no longer anxious” will not work as your subconscious brain relates the word “no” as a negative and “anxious” as a negative. The effect will then probably be the opposite of what you want. Learning to speak to your mind, with the right vocabulary is very important. I will take up the use of language in a future log, but for now let’s concentrate on positive affirmations.
Cure your panic attacks through positive affirmations
Here’s a few examples:
“I am happy, healthy and wealthy”
“I am in control of mental state”
“I am calm, relaxed and mentally stabile”
“My inner strength is immense”
“I love and I am loved”
I am sure you can come up with some more that fits your thought better. When I used to have an anxiety attacks I would sit down and write down as many affirmations as I could on piece of paper as writing them down keeps you busy enough not to side track on unhealthy thoughts. Remember the anxious person is often very lazy with actually doing something about his or her anxiety, perhaps thinking that nothing helps. That line of thought is wrong…. It is proven that actually doing something to distract the anxiety helps.
It is important to do affirmations when you feel an attack coming but they are also great for prevention of attacks. It is proven that you learn better when you are calm and we are learning to change our way of thinking. And during a panic attack, calm is probably the last thing you are. I therefore suggest that the best time to speak to your subconscious mind is just before you go to sleep. Then you are (hopefully) calmer and more susceptible to affirmative influences and hypnosis. So why not repeat an affirmation over and over again before you go to sleep every night. And you will sleep better and wake up anxiety free! Tomorrow I will talk about breathing exercises to calm yourself down.
The tools I provide in this blog, I believe, is the only way to cure your panic attacks and anxiety and If you want further help and a whole study course in the subject you might want to try the Linden Method that I sort of promote in this blog (I get a little fee if you click on this link and then buy the product on the Linden page, enough for me to keep this blog running.) It is a well known and very effective method that has cured 100.000 or more of their panic attacks and anxiety. It costs $109 that you might perceive as a lot of money but if you think about it, what is 109 dollars in comparison to the anxiety you are experiencing and if there was a pill for 109 dollars that cured your panic attacks and anxiety completely – wouldn’t you buy it??? Anyway the Linden Method offers a full money back guarantee if you are not happy with the product, although I can guarantee you will be.
Cure your panic attacks and bad thoughts with “think through”
So if all your feelings stem from your thoughts you might want to start sorting out what you are thinking about.
Are you thinking thoughts that are creative and healthy?
Most likely the answer to that question is: NO, otherwise you wouldn’t’ be reading this blog. Perhaps you already know that you should be thinking positive thoughts but your brain just won’t allow it. Fair enough.
So if you are stuck in a bad thought pattern how do you break out of it?
You are going to have to start reasoning with your brain. It’s not very easy to begin with but you will soon get the hang of it.
So how do we start?
Well first we must think through our thoughts – often a panicked person get stuck in one line of thought. For example “I might get poisoned if I eat an apple without washing it” the thought pattern for an anxious or panicked person looks like this: I’m going to get poisoned from eating that apple, I have already touched it and maybe it’ll go through my fingers into my bloodstream and then I will get poisoned, I’ll probably will panic about it, ok, now I am panicking, shit I might have got poisoned already, I am feeling a bit funny, I wonder what it is, It’s the intoxication coming, I’m going to get poisoned, I can feel it, I’m getting poisoned. And on it goes.
What about if we changed that line of thought to this:
I’m going to get poisoned from eating that apple. Ok, so I think I am going to get poisoned from eating that apple. Did I eat the apple? Yes. How big is the likelihood of someone getting poisoned from eating that apple without washing it? Very small as apples are made to be eaten. What if I still get poisoned? Well I have to go to hospital. OK. So then what? I will probably feel really bad and have like a panic attack when I go. Ok so then what. That would be really bad. Maybe, but will it kill me? NO. Ok then, so I am going to feel shit for a few hours and then it will go away. Is that the end of the world? No. Alright then what was I worrying about in the first place.
This is an example of thinking trough a thought pattern and not getting stuck in “what if I get poisoned”. Anxious people often fail to see the big picture and need some help in sorting out their thoughts to be able to see that.
The first step to getting anxiety free is to think through your thoughts the faster you can take care of your bad thoughts the faster you can start thinking good thoughts.
This was the first think lesson in the series: Cure your panic attacks by nailing your bad thoughts ass!
Cure your panic attacks through the “check for danger” looking to the sides…
As most people with panic attacks know a panic attack is the body’s response to fear. In today’s modern times we don’t specifically have any real dangers to deal with as we had when we were still living in caves. But unfortunately our brains haven’t moved away from that stage of human development and we still react in the same way as the Stone Age people did to fear. The difference is that they had real things to fear, like lions, pumas and other predators. So when out hunting or gathering they had to look out not to become dinner for some fearsome beast.
So this is going to sound ridiculous but… When we feel a panic attack closing up on us we can simply use the “check for danger” technique…
This is how you cure your panic attacks through “check for danger”
You turn your head slowly to the right as much as you can, then you look to the right and observe what you can see in the corner of your eye to the right. Take your time to really try to see everything on your right side. Then turn your head to the left and look and observe what you can see to the left.
Then turn your head to the centre and observe what you see right in front of you.
Normally this stops the attack from coming.
Why does it work?
The reason it works is that we still have such a primitive reaction to fear so the movement to the right and left whilst checking for danger tells the brain that there is nothing to fear and so it shuts down the panic reaction. If you still are really wound up after doing the right left head turns – just repeat them again and make sure that you really observe what you can see.
If you want more tips about letting go of your panic attacks you might want to try the Linden Method (click here) that I link to from this website. Or check back later for more tools and tips on how to cure panic attacks!
There are many ways in how we can cure panic attacks. For instance we can try the distraction method. This won’t cure panic attacks as such, but when you get skilled in it you might be able to control your panic attacks when they are coming. The way it works is that when you notice you are getting into a panic attack or into an anxiety state you simply start doing something else that demands all your attention. For example you might start to do the dishes or vacuum clean or run ten laps around the house. The last one is one of my own distraction methods. At one point I had to do four sets of ten laps around the house a day to “punish” my anxiety thoughts and feelings. And I live on the side of a mountain so it isn’t an easy run around the house although the house is quite small. When I was getting to lap 6 or so I was getting very tired and the panic attack and anxiety was often going down as my throat tasted of blood due to me being so unfit! At lap 10 I could often see the comedy in what I was doing and could laugh about the whole thing. After I was done I would go inside and continue what I was doing. It takes a bit of self discipline I suppose to actually go out and start running. But I really had no other choice as I was so fed up after years of panic attacks with no cure.
How to cure panic attacks with thought distraction.
Sometimes, it might be enough to just think about something else rather than going to such extremes as running yourself tired. The brain namely can only hold one thought at a time so if you are thinking about a beautiful summer sky it cannot at the same time think about you having a panic attack… Fact! That is why meditation is such a powerful tool against panic attacks. When you meditate you teach your brain to hold one thought for a long time. It is quite difficult but not impossible. One way of starting to meditate is to try to think about just one thing. If something else pops up in your head, just acknowledge it and continue to put your focus on your first item. For example repeating the words “beautiful summer sky” or any other words that work for you, over and over again at the same time as trying to make an image of a beautiful summer sky in your mind, is a method of meditation.

Yes it is true there is a way to cure panic attacks!
Yes there are many tools available for you to use in combating your panic disorder I will take up a few on this blog. But before I start telling you about it I want to tell you a bit about myself. I first started experiencing panic attacks after having my first child. When my boy was about one year old we went to a restaurant. And after eating a piece of bread I suddenly thought I was going to die. I do not kid you! It felt as if I couldn’t focus my eyes on anything and the world was spinning around me. I looked down and it felt as if I was going to fall over. I was shaking, sweating and my heartbeat was racing. Then the adrenaline started to flow in my spine and I got repeated rushes running up my spine as if I had taken some horrible drug that took over my body. I literally thought I was having some sort if seizure. I ran out to the car with everyone in the restaurant looking at me as if I was crazy. My husband paid and ran after me. We called a doctor and described the symptoms and he said that it was a common panic attack. Well that’s how it all started about 9 years ago.
What did the doctors say to me about panic attacks?
My husband and I had private medical care so I got the best help in the country for my panic problems. I went to high class therapists, cognitive behaviour therapists and hypnosis. It all helped a little bit but not getting rid of the panic attacks. The mystery for me was the strange the way they had started. It was literally as if something snapped and at a flick of a button, that suddenly, I had panic attacks. All the doctors wanted to explore my life before the panic attacks… They were saying – surely you must have had some tendencies towards this behaviour before… But the truth is no I hadn’t. I had always been a very confident woman that would say to anyone with panic attacks or anxiety “pull yourself together” or “stop that nonsense now” Well I know now, that saying those kinds of things is not very helpful and will only make the person more insecure, as happened to me.
Panic attacks stop you living your life
What happened to me with my panic attacks was that I more and more started to make my comfort zone smaller. I was afraid to go to places away from my neighbourhood – going to the supermarket was shear hell for example. I started thinking that things that I ate would trigger a panic attack or anxiety. I stopped drinking coffee and tea as they would make my anxiety level higher. I didn’t eat chocolate or any sweets. I only ate what I called “safe foods” that was plain foods like bread, rice, eggs or carrots. I read the labels of everything I bought in case there was something that I imagined would trigger the anxiety. As you can imagine my whole life was controlled by the anxiety and panic attacks. Basically I thought anything could trigger a panic attack. For instance If I had seen a fly on the bred bag, on the plastic, not on the actual bread, I wouldn’t eat any of that loaf in case that fly would have contaminated the bread with something that might trigger the attacks. If I dropped a garment of clothing on the floor taking it out of the washing machine I would rewash that whole load to make sure nothing that might trigger a panic attack had got into the fabric to later get absorbed by my skin to give me a panic attack. You might see how incredibly twisted and complicated my life suddenly became. Because I was constantly living in fear I also avoided anything that would make me scared which included watching the news on TV or any film with something remotely scary in the storyline. I was on adrenaline blocking medicines and a high dose of anti depressants. For a while there I was a complete slave to my fear and my brain.
Lucky am I that I found a way to take back the control over my brain and body!
How I cure d my panic attacks!
I made the realisation that panic attacks are caused by the memory of fear in our brain. We all have a conscious and subconscious mind. The conscious mind is the bit of the brain we use when we think – it is where we reason and make decisions. Those decisions are sent to the subconscious mind where they get executed in the way we decided. The subconscious mind is the part of the brain that make our inner organs work, heal our skin after a cut or bruise, make sure we continue breathing and stay alive when we are asleep and has control of all our fear hormones like adrenaline for instance. The subconscious mind is awesomely powerful! Imagine that it takes care of all our functions in the body and heals our cuts and bruises even though we don’t tell it too! It is constantly awake and working for us. But it does not reason. This is very important to know! If you tell your subconscious mind something it will behave exactly as you tell it. That is why you in your anticipation of fear believing you are going to get a panic attack also get one when you do the thing that you feared in the first place. But don’t worry because knowing your subconscious mind is where your power lies….
What if you could tellyour subconscious mind to not beafraid!!!And because it does not reason it would be so!What if you simply programmedyoursubconscious mindto obey your wishes and so you would cure your panic attacks!
Do you think you can do it?
I did!
If I did it so can you!
